Frequently asked.
What is a folded business card for?
Folded business cards give you roughly double the printable area of a standard card, which opens up uses a single-sided card can't manage. We regularly print them for Bracknell bars and restaurants as mini drinks or menu cards, for salons and therapists as appointment-reminder cards, and for any business running a loyalty or stamp-card scheme. They also work well as mini brochures, gift vouchers, or discount cards when you want a front-cover reveal before the detail inside. On 350gsm silk with optional matt or gloss lamination, they still feel like a proper business card in the hand.
Which fold style should I choose?
Half fold is our most popular choice. The card is pre-folded once, so it closes to standard business card size (85 × 55 mm) but opens flat to 170 × 55 mm, effectively doubling your print space. Cross fold gives you four panels by folding twice, ideal if you want a tiny four-page booklet for appointment cards showing multiple dates. Scored means we crease the card but leave it flat, so your customer folds it themselves — good for cards that live flat in a wallet until they are needed. All three options are printed at our Bracknell print shop on the same 350gsm silk stock.
How quickly can you print folded business cards?
Most folded business card orders leave our Bracknell print room within 48 hours of you approving the final proof. If you are up against a tighter deadline, tell us when you request the quote — for smaller runs of 100 or 250 cards we can often go faster. We will always be honest about what is achievable before you commit. Once printed, you can either collect from our Bracknell print room, or we will deliver free across RG12 and RG42 postcodes.
Will I see a proof before you print?
Yes, always. We send a digital PDF proof before anything goes on press, so you can check the layout, colours, fold position, and typography on screen. For larger runs or premium finishes like foil and embossing, we can also produce a physical proof card for you to approve in person. Nothing is printed at full quantity until you give us the go-ahead. The proof stage is free and included in every folded business card job we run.
What file format should I send for folded business cards?
Print-ready PDF is ideal, supplied as the flat open size (170 × 55 mm for a half-folded card) with fold lines marked on a separate layer or in the file. Work in CMYK colour with 3mm bleed on all outer edges, and embed or outline any fonts. If you do not have print-ready artwork, send us whatever you have — InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, even a Word document or a photo of a rough — and our in-house design team will tidy it up. Artwork checks are free on every folded business card order.
What is the minimum order?
Fifty folded business cards is our minimum, same as standard business cards. Most of our Bracknell customers order in batches of 250, 500 or 1,000 at a time, which brings the per-card price right down. If you are testing a new design or running a very small campaign, fifty is fine. For reorders of an existing design, we keep your last-approved artwork on file so you can just say 'same again' and we will have them back to you within 48 hours.
Do you offer foil or embossing on folded cards?
Yes to all of them. Gold and silver foil are applied after printing and give a genuine metallic finish, ideal for a premium feel on restaurant menu cards or high-end loyalty schemes. Embossing pushes a raised pattern into the card stock, which reads beautifully on the cover panel. Spot UV adds a glossy varnished area over a matt-laminated card, drawing the eye to a logo or headline. All three add a couple of working days to the standard 48-hour turnaround from our Bracknell print shop, and we will price them at the quote stage.
